Azima Tawfiq
Biography
Iraq's first leading lady. She played the role of 'Aliya' in the Iraqi film 'Aliya and Issam' in 1949 alongside Salima Murad. In the 1950s, she opened a nightclub in Al-Karrada and focused on singing there, distancing herself from radio and television. Her artistic news faded away in the late 1950s.
