Because they worry so much about getting a return from their relatively small audience, many LGBT movies are formulaic and safe. SoulMaid is anything but, and that alone raises it significantly in my estimation. Silly, quirky, and a little bit edgy, it's less polished and even cheaper but has the feel of a lost episode of a TV show set in the same universe as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. On...
