Dexter: Original Sin

In 1991 Miami, Dexter Morgan transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can't be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements' radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Simply put, not good. The unimaginative and rather cheesily titled "Dexter Original Sin" is, unlike the original series, about as subtle as a meat clever. The sense of light, sophisticated handling associated with the original series, is largely absent.Instead, the treatment is over the top, at times bordering on the ridiculous. A pretty good prequel to Dexter. Better than that new blood sequel, or whatever it was called. I guess that's why there's only one season of that. If course, it's still Dexter, so it has a ton of plot holes, ridiculous conveniences, silly scenarios, etc. But then again, it's Dexter, so it's entertaining and gripping if you crank up your suspension of disbelief.
